A recent study has analysed tobacco, alcohol and other drug use among New Zealand secondary students and found that many, especially from underserved groups, were worried about their substance use and wanted to cut down or quit, but some reported difficulty getting help. Among young people who smoked tobacco, two out of three wanted to cut down or quit, and almost one in five reported difficulty getting help to stop smoking. The findings highlight the need for better prevention and early intervention efforts.
